Peter Clare, CEO
Since 2000, Peter Clare has been a private investor and active board member for early stage technology companies. After seeing the strategic potential of Apacheta's team and their technology, Peter became an investor and board member, subsequently joining Apacheta's team as Chief Technology Officer and eventually as CEO. Before becoming a private investor, Peter was a very early Oracle Corporation employee, and a member of the senior management team that helped build Oracle during the ten years of its most rapid growth (1984..1994). He led the R&D group at Oracle which invented PL/SQL, Oracle's programmatic language extension to SQL, and left Oracle as Director of Architecture and Education, where he had helped guide and disseminate Oracle's core technology throughout its world-wide technical organization. Early in his career, Peter was a software developer in Control Data Corporation's Compiler Products Division where he helped create the world's fastest computer language processors. Jim Collins, Senior Vice President
With over 22 years experience in mobile computing and pervasive technologies, Jim has extensive experience with all aspects of corporate management and operations pertaining to technology growth. Previous experience includes the successful launch and fast growth to profitability of JAS Concepts, Inc. a middleware company, where he was co-founder and President/CEO for over 10 years. Jim also served as VP of Mobile Computing at Cotelligent, managing all mobile consulting and product initiatives. Director of Mobile Computing for Dun and Bradstreet, where he pioneered one of the first PC based mobile client servers for field sales and mobile work forces using laptop and handheld computers. He started his career as managing director of Mobile Consulting for Whelan Associates, Inc. developing mobile infrastructure for Sun Oil Co., Richardson Vicks Pharmaceuticals and TVSM Satellite Cable Guide. Jim received his education in Business from Penn State University and in Engineering from Drexel University.
Steve Higgins, Vice President Engineering
Steve has over 20 years experience in the computing industry with emphasis on software design and development as it relates to pervasive computing. Experienced in the application of software design methodologies including RUP, ISO 9000, Component Based Design, Agile Software Development, and Extreme Programming, Steve pioneered the initial development of handheld and laptop protocols communicating over wired networks and POTS. He is an authority on the design, architecture, implementation and development of products within Open Systems J2EE, Java and Microsoft environments as they pertain to mobility and extending corporate infrastructure and applications. Previously Steve was Co-Founder and CTO of JAS Concepts, Inc. where he led the design and development of four generations of successful mobile middleware products. Steve also served as Senior Director of Mobile Computing at Cotelligent, where he headed up all of their mobile computing initiatives. Steve received his education in Computer Science from Penn State University.
Don Grust, Vice President Marketing and Business Development
Don has more than 26 years of experience in the high-tech industry, including 15 years in wireless and mobile computing. Prior to joining Apacheta in 2006, Don founded Espria in 2002 to provide mobile consulting and systems integration services to software companies. Prior to Espria, Don spent 8 years at Broadbeam. As a founding director and vice president at Broadbeam, Don's responsibilities covered strategy, marketing, product management, business development and international operations. Prior to Broadbeam, Don worked for RAM Mobile Data (now Velocita Wireless), ran his own technology consulting firm and was a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell Labs. Don is a founding member of the Mobile Enterprise Magazine Editorial Advisory Board and holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Rutgers University.
